Flags for Hillsborough’s Heroes is proud to support these local causes with the proceeds from this year’s event. All four serve women, children, and families in need in our community, and they are heroes in our eyes!
The First Rotary Club in Tampa
The Rotary Club of Tampa is 140 members of all ages, professions, and cultural backgrounds, united as people of action, making a difference with hands on service, leadership, and philanthropic giving, both locally and internationally. Our members support one another in business and build friendships that last a lifetime. We work hard and have a lot of fun together.
Flags for Hillsborough’s Heroes was born in 2020 with three goals in mind – to honor the heroes that surround us every day, to bring the community together in a spirit of unity and patriotism, and to financially support local causes that served those directly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Thanks to your generous support, we provided over $20,000 in grants to five very worthwhile causes. Each stood tall for a specific segment of the community – students, the unemployed, the hungry, and those with mental health challenges – when they were needed most. Here is where your support went in 2020:
Frameworks of Tampa Bay $6575 went to support students and their parents with virtual social and emotional learning tools specifically geared towards the academic shutdown caused by Covid-19.
Goodwill Suncoast $2725 supported displaced workers with virtual job skills training and one on one vocational counseling.
Icon Preparatory Academy $4550 provided Chromebooks for students adapting to at-home learning that otherwise would not have an online learning device available to them.
Metropolitan Ministries $6575 provided basic needs to families left homeless or food insecure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wheels of Success $2275 gave a refurbished vehicle to a military veteran in need of transportation to their place of employment.
We look forward to growing our impact in 2021, and your generous support can make that happen!
